Weekend Getaway: Chiang Mai to Pai

What better way to spend Valentine's Day than hitting the open road to discover new places you never even planned on going?

With no plans on the calendar for the overrated holiday, we were more than happy to accept an invitation to motorbike through the mountains of Northern Thailand with our friends Evan and Eric. Although I tore up the uneven roads of Ko Samet on my own bike, I opted to let Casey tackle the steep, twisting streets of the mountains while I snapped pictures of the scenery speeding by from behind.

Starting in the artsy, ancient city of Chiang Mai, we embarked on a five hour journey to the sleepy town of Pai ~ a backpacker's haven near the Myanmar border. But it wasn't really the destination that made this trip special. Most of our time was spent in transit, stumbling upon wats and waterfalls tucked away on random side roads and getting a glimpse of local life in the foothills of the mountains.
