Surrender with the Back Body
Do you ever feel like you're fighting an uphill battle? That no matter what you DO, you just can't seem to get ahead? Even as you check things off, the to-do list keeps growing. You've written out your 5-year plan, but life keeps taking a different turn.
Sister, it's time to surrender.
I don't mean throwing in the towel and calling it quits. Or waving the white flag and admitting defeat. Instead, it's about releasing control over every aspect of your life and finding hope, faith, and trust that the universe has your back.
In today's video, we explore movement from the back of the body. We're constantly moving forward, initiating from the front of our bodies, which is associated with doing and the ego. The back symbolizes surrender, acting from a place of grace and trusting that something bigger than us has our back.
Creating time and space to learn the subtle art of surrender allows us to receive guidance and effortlessly co-create with the divine through attraction, allowing, and pleasure. We increase our magnetism, drawing our desires in without exerting excess energy.
When something is important to us, we tend to cling onto it for dear life. Clenched fists, heart beating, body tight. Surrender invites us to let go and release our attachment to the outcome. To allow what is meant for us to flow freely in harmony rather than fighting against us.
surrender into total trust
Lie down on your back in a comfortable place, like your bed or on a yoga mat on the floor. Bring your awareness to the back of your body, exploring the points of contact with the surface beneath you. Take a few deep breaths to drop into this space of total surrender, knowing you are held and safe.
Start to move mindfully, massaging the back body into the floor. Sway the arms, round the back, roll the hips. Make shapes you've never made. With each movement, release your worries and need to control over to a higher power. In this moment, there is no need to DO ~ just BE. You can do this for as long as it feels good and juicy!
When you start to feel complete, sweep the arms up overhead and hug the knees into the chest. Roll from side-to-side to massage the sacrum area. Continue with any last movements that evoke a sense of trust and serenity.
To finish, allow any shred of effort to dissolve into shavasana, the final resting pose, with your arms and legs extended. Send love and gratitude to the universe for always being there, keeping you safe and held.
