When you feel the urge to create, please get out there and do it with all the gusto you can muster. Even if it seems silly or frivolous or like it’s already been done.
We wouldn’t have Salvation Mountain if Leonard Knight hadn’t acted on his desire to share the message of God's love with the world. This Dr. Seuss-esque structure in the middle of the desert stands as the entrance to the squatter community of Slab City and welcomes visitors with messages of love, peace and acceptance ~ sentiments we surely need more of in today's world.

We also wouldn't have these images if Polly and I hadn't decided to take another impromptu visit out to the desert to see this epic piece of outsider art in all its glory. We were fueled by the strong need to create ~ to make something beautiful just for creation's sake. We may not be saving the world with our art, but maybe if we all spent a little more time focusing on the things we love and creating things that bring us joy, there would be less room for all of this hate.
