Saying Goodbye to Sutthisan

Today we set off on yet another new journey... but this time it's just across town! I can't believe our initial six months is already up. It really doesn't seem like that long ago that I was writing about all of the places I wanted to go and things I wanted to see, wondering what this trip would actually have in store for us. Looking back, it's so wild to see how far we've come. We've already ticked off some of the things on my original must-see list ~ and done more than I could have even imagined! ~ but there's still so much left to explore. Luckily, Casey signed a year-long contract at Kasetsart University so we'll be in and around Bangkok at least until next May as far as I can tell!

When we first moved here, we had no idea what to expect. We got our apartment through a friend-of-a-friend-type situation and we'd only seen a few photos of our new home before we arrived. It was nice because we had no idea what the cool neighborhoods were to live in, where the best dining/nightlife options were located - or really anything at all about the city to be honest - and the guy whose apartment we were taking over seemed to be right on our wavelength.

And so it turned out that we started living at Life@Ratchada-Suthisan, one of many Life condos throughout Bangkok, and I have to say we really have felt like we've been livin' the life.

But now that we've made some friends and know a bit more about what's what in the city, we've decided to move from the super Thai area of Sutthisan to a HUGE apartment in the hip 'hood of Ari with our friend Evan.

Although we're looking forward to having more eating, drinking and shopping options + a lot more space to just BE, there's a ton of things we're going to miss about our old neck of the woods...

Like starting each morning with fresh fruit and the most delicious pork and rice topped with fried egg from our beloved "Rice Lady."

Chilling out at Mom's Restaurant - but of course we left our mark on their awesome chalk wall.

We're literally finishing up packing as I type this and I'm feeling a bit sad to leave this place behind, but am so excited for what's in store. And taking all of the melodrama out of it, our new place is really only about 20 minutes away by public transport! I'm sure we'll be back for beef noodle soup soon...
