Insider's Guide to Ari: Favorite Eats
As Ari is known for both its coffee shops and restaurants, you won't soon find yourself going hungry in the area. Especially with all the different types of cuisine on offer. Since moving here in June, we've nearly eaten our way through the entire neighborhood (that's the beauty of Thailand ~ you can actually afford to eat out more often than not!) and have established a few tried-and-true favorites along the way.
Pizza Pazza: Good pizza can be hard to come by in Asia, but Pizza Pazza never disappoints. Choose from a wide range of red or white sauce-based pizzas with a myriad of toppings. They can split pies half-and-half, so don't worry if you're having trouble narrowing it down. And don't forget to save room for a tartufo dessert!
Somtum Bangkok: As far as Thai food goes, this place is a bit pricier than what you'll find on the street or at other hole-in-the-wall restaurants, but it's so worth it. They offer the best Tom Kha Gai I've had in Thailand and the Fried Minced Pork with Herbs shouldn't be missed. You can opt to dine inside on antique treadle sewing machines as tables or head to the lively outdoor patio.
Lay Lao: This elevated Thai eatery offers Isaan-style food and local favorites. The charcoal-grilled meats seem to melt in your mouth and you'll find yourself wishing you had your own personal bottles of their delicious dipping sauces. The dishes themselves are almost as Instagram-worthy as the artsy interior of the restaurant. But if you aren't feeling up to dining in-house, no worries - they also offer free delivery!
Coffee Roasting Division of Pladib: #1 breakfast spot in Ari, hands down. You'll find us here at least once a week (usually twice!). The Egg and Italian Sausage Skillet and the Eggs Benedict will blow you away. By night, the restaurant drops its "Coffee Roasting Division" moniker to become simply Pla Dib, serving up fusion cuisine in the same outdoor setting as its breakfast counterpart.
