Own the Night: A Chicago Nightlife Guide
So I know I've made it pretty clear how much I love Chicago, but yesterday I failed to even mention the city's nightlife scene. If you know me at all, you know I love to party and dance until the sun comes up. After living in Minneapolis for the last few months and being forced to end my nights at 2am, I'm so excited to be back in the land of 4am bars and late-night restaurants serving up the best drunk food (that actually still tastes great during daylight hours!). Here are a few of my favorite spots that we'll hopefully be tearing up this weekend:
Can't decide whether you're in the mood for a bar or a club? Crocodile is the best of both worlds with the typical bar scene happening upstairs and a full-on dance party erupting just a staircase below. Fishbowls keep the party going all night, while free personal pizzas with every drink purchase soak up some of the alcohol and serve as a perfect midnight snack.
Specializing in tacos and whiskey, Big Star is a hipster hangout best suited for pregaming and grabbing a quick bite before heading to dance spots like Debonair and Crocodile down the street. Don't get me wrong, you could definitely make a night out of downing $3 whiskey shots and getting to know the people around you in the close quarters of the bar. It's also a great spot for the end-of-the-night drunk munchies. The Walking Taco won't disappoint.
Located in Chicago's up-and-coming Logan Square neighborhood, The Owl is a great 4am (5am on Saturdays!) spot for those situated on the west side of the city. True to its name, the bar is covered in owls of all shapes and sizes and fills up with the type of night owls who like to drink craft beer and get down on the massive dance floor until the wee hours.
